There is Beauty in Disintegration

My Interstices Collection is inspired by dilapidated walls and buildings. The peeling paint and crumbling bricks all have a unique texture and character, which inspires me to recreate them on canvas.

Using primarily acrylics, I paint layer after layer, sometimes adding collage pieces or an unusual texture like sand, window screen or eggshell.  I use various mark-making tools, especially palette knives and extra sharp graphite pencils, taking the texture as far as possible. On most works, as I build up the layers, I extend them over the edge of the canvas to keep the illusion going. My goal is to help you sense the texture on the surface, giving you both a visual and tactile experience.
